The music of A Certain Symmetry aims to reconnect the band and listeners to the building blocks that make us who we are, and that somehow fall by the wayside, pushed out by the urgencies of every day.
It is the connection to those instinctive feelings that makes the A Certain Symmetry experience so intimate, where audience and performers revisit destinations they never really left.
The band members have been playing music within and beyond Toronto since the days of foot-hockey in elementary school playgrounds.
From choral tours throughout the world, to rock and roll concerts in the Montreal-Toronto corridor, to traditional Irish music in smoky pubs on both sides of the Atlantic, the path taken by each of these five musicians has been meandering and eclectic.
But taking the road less traveled truly has made all the difference.
The result is a brand of music that is familiar, yet diverse and unique, with influences ranging from Simon and Garfunkle to Coldplay and from Mozart to Radiohead.
A Certain Symmetry was formed out of a common sense of purpose and a belief that if you stick by what you know and love the best, the universe will conspire to make good things happen; you just need a little bit of pressure and a little bit of time.
Two lead vocalists sharing acoustic guitar and bass duties, an electric guitarist, a pianist and a percussionist search together for the elusive balance between the everyday and the extraordinary; happy that you're coming along for the ride.
