'A Basic Thing' has it's roots all the way back to 2000 with the band 'FiiGMO' in Louisville, Kentucky.
The evolution to 'HLM' (which has now become HLM Records & Productions) followed by the combined evolution to 'The Final Run' in 2004, finally became 'A Basic Thing' in 2006.
The solo project of Matthew Jaysef Bender, it has left the emo-style pop/punk sound of 'The Final Run' to head instead in the direction of acoustic/mellow rock and alternative.
The new EP "Driving Nowhere" (scheduled for release early 2007) is the first of the music to also incorporate christian rock.
Based in Clarksville, just outside of Nashville, TN., one full album ("Scars") and one EP ("Retracing Memories") have already been completed.
